What is hypnotherapy?
You may not have realised it, but you will already have experienced the hypnotic state in your life. Every time you float off in a daydream or are driving and wonder how we got to our destination without thinking about it you are in a natural state of hypnosis. Hypnosis is a relaxing, naturally occurring state of mind which can happen to us at any time of the day.
Hypnotherapy assists clients in finding alternatives to their present unsatisfactory ways of feeling or behaviour. The state of hypnosis allows us allows direct access to the subconscious mind. During hypnosis, the physical body and conscious mind are in a relaxed state while the subconscious mind remains in a heightened state of suggestibility.
Hypnosis is a completely safe and natural way to treat problems with no harmful side effects. It is medically approved by the American Psychiatric Association and the British Medical Association as a viable therapeutic tool.
How many sessions will I need?
This is dependant on the issue and how well you respond to hypnotherapy. On average, most issues will take 3 sessions. The stop smoking programme generally only takes one session and I will do my best to resolve your issues as quickly as possible.
Can I be made to do anything against my will?
No, you are aware and completely in control the entire time. No therapist can make you do anything that you do not want to do.
Can I get stuck in a trance?
No, absolutely not. You always remain in control and you can stop and come out of hypnosis whenever you wish no matter how relaxed you are.
